Stockport Silver would like to express our sincere thanks to Jim Hunter for the work he has done building the band back up from 12 players in December 2018, to its current levels with over 25 players! Jim is unfortunately retiring due to ill health and the band send him our very best wishes for a speedy recovery.

We are very excited to welcome our new MD, Nicki Moss. Nicki learnt to play from the age of 7 and has played both cornet and/or horn for several bands over the years including, Gorton Silver, Ashton Under Line, Burnage, Reddish Prize and Stockport Silver. Nicki is looking forward to working with the band on a new concert programme for the year ahead.

We are performing a free concert for friends, family and past members and would like to invite past members to join in for a few pieces at the end if they so wish.

We will also put on a disco afterwards and there will be some light refreshements and, of course, the bar will be open throughout the evening.

After a 7 month stint at the George Lane United Reformed Church in Bredbury we are delighted to announce that we will be moving into our new home, Kimberley Street Day Centre, Shaw Heath on Tuesday!

We have really appreciated the kindness of everyone at George Lane United Reformed Church providing us with a great temporary rehearsal space while we could take our time to find a more suitable venue. We also must thank Claire Byrom for all the hard work and effort she put in last year finding us the venue.

Stockport Silver are welcoming back Jim Hunter, returning as MD after 7 years. 
The members are excited to get working on a new concert programme for the year ahead and looking forward to this new chapter.

Well after a long search, we’re finally going to be getting the majority our equipment moved in to our new home at George Lane United Reformed Church in Bredbury tonight!

We’ve a little more lifting and shifting to do but we’re very much looking forward to getting settled in and being able to call somewhere ‘home’ again after being made homeless earlier in the year.

The band have pulled together brilliantly though and put on some cracking performances over the summer even through all the disruption – still managing to make each and every one of our regular events. A huge thanks to all members for the extra effort you’ve put in!

For anyone who would like to come and join us for a toot and see our new home, you can find us Tuesday evenings 8-10 pm in the backroom of the Sunday School to the rear of the main church, United Reformed Church, 41 George Lane, Bredbury, Stockport SK6 1AT (entrance to the bandroom through the little gate!…). Come and say hello and perhaps join us for a game of pool/table football in the break!

Absolutely thrilled with the results from yesterday! Fabulous work from all our members – 11 venues visited and three Best in Section prizes to show for it!
Well done to all who took part, the fabulous organisers at the venues (who did a great job looking after the bands as always) and thanks to all the many supporters along the way.
